Facts

  • Features a 9-foot tall bronze sculpture of a Confederate soldier atop a 50-foot pedestal.
  • Constructed as a monument for the Confederate forces from the Norfolk area that served in the American Civil War.
  • In 1965 the statue was removed to make way for the construction of the Bank of America Center. It was subsequently reinstalled at its present location in 1971.
