About us

Emporis is a global provider of building information. Emporis collects data on buildings of high public and economic value, connects them with involved companies and sets standards for this information. Our products include Emporis Research, Image Licensing, Premium Company Listing and Online Advertising, and are used by customers from the building industry and other fields.

In 2000 the Emporis website was founded as Skyscrapers.com, with a focus on collecting information on skyscrapers and high-rise buildings only. Since 2003 Emporis has branched out, widening its database by collecting building information on all construction types. In addition, our Image Shop has approximately 600,000 royalty-free photographs of buildings all over the world. Contributors are located worldwide: data is collected by our editorial Community, data researchers and public. Our audiences are building industry professionals and people with an interest in buildings and urban habitat.

"Best new skyscraper stands in New York City

Hamburg - Hamburg, November 30, 2017 – The winner of the annual Emporis Skyscraper Award for the best new Skyscraper of the year is spectacular 34-story residential building VIA 57 West in New York City, USA. The winner was picked by an international panel of experts from a worldwide pool of more than 700 eligible skyscrapers which were completed in 2016 and are at least 100 meters tall. The award, given by Emporis (www.emporis.com), the leading international provider of building data, is being presented for the 17th time this year.more

According to building data research company Emporis, Seoul in South Korea has more high-rise buildings, with 16,359. Emporis defines a high-rise as a building at least 35m, or 12 storeys tall. In second place is Moscow, Russia, with 12,317 high-rises, followed by Hong Kong in third place, with 7,913.Download PDF
